Behind the Scenes of Innovation: Highlights from Our HPL Prototypes Open Day

On Tuesday 25th March, we were delighted to host an exclusive Open Day at HPL PROTOTYPES LIMITED, one of the UK’s leading prototyping and modelling facilities. The event brought together engineers, designers, and industry professionals for a deep dive into the power of high-performance 3D printing!

A Day of Discovery and Innovation

From the moment our guests arrived at HPL’s impressive Coventry site, attendees were treated to a unique insight into HPL’s traditional craftsmanship which has recently been blended with cutting-edge additive technology from Stratasys. Witnessing firsthand how HPL combines decades of hands-on expertise with next-gen tools to deliver exceptional prototypes for leading global brands.

The highlight? Live demonstrations of the Stratasys NEO series, showcasing the kind of precision and repeatability that’s become essential in today’s fast-paced product development cycles. Whether it was automotive, consumer products, or aerospace prototyping, the applications we discussed were as varied as they were impressive!

Expert Talks that Inspired

A huge thank you goes out to our fantastic speakers, whose insights gave real-world context to the potential of additive manufacturing:

• Christopher Devane , CEO of HPL Prototypes, gave an inspiring overview of the company’s journey and the thought process in embracing advanced 3D printing which has elevated their capabilities.
• Lauren Grundy , Application Engineer at Stratasys, ran through the full Stratasys range, with a specific insight into material performance, workflow integration, and the advantages of the open material platform offered by the NEO systems.
• Our very own, Joe Godfrey, one of our 3D Print Sales Specialists who shared valuable advice on how to identify the right additive solution for different production and prototyping needs.

Each speaker provided a different lens on the innovation happening within the walls of many evolving manufacturers across the UK including HPL, highlighting how additive manufacturing is not just about printing parts – it’s about transforming entire processes.

Behind-the-Scenes Factory Tour

To end on a high, our guests were given a rare look at the inner workings of HPL’s facilities, exploring everything from design and prototyping studios to production and post-processing areas. It was an incredible opportunity to see how theory meets reality, and how additive and traditional manufacturing methods are working hand-in-hand.
